Tutu Turtles Robotics Team Sweeps Regional Competition

Chatham Hall
On February 10, the Tutu Turtles Robotics team traveled to Richmond for the Central FTC Qualifier.  Over nine matches against teams from throughout Virginia, Chatham Hall swept the competition, finishing with a perfect 9-0 record and earning the highest score at the meet.
For their outstanding performance, the TuTu Turtles received 3rd place in the Control Award for programming, 2nd place in the Connect Award for community involvement, and 2nd place in the Innovate Award for innovative design. The team also walked away with the highest honor of the competition, the Inspire Award, which is given by the judges to the most well-rounded and professional team. Thanks to their outstanding performance and awards, the team secured a spot at the Virginia State Meet to be held on February 24.

The nineteen members of the Tutu Turtles worked closely with Virginia Commonwealth University engineering student and Chatham Hall alumna, Rachel Neller '15–as well as event sponsor Dominion Energy–to promote sustainability through recycling. Team mentors Molly Thomas and Dan Waters  were impressed by the outstanding work of their team, with Thomas commenting, “No matter the game scores or awards, I am always proud to be associated with the students from Chatham Hall, but it's super exciting to win!” For updates on the Tutu Turtles Robotics team, be sure to follow @ftc5086 on Twitter!
