Color Run Offers a Fun Break Before Exams

Chatham Hall
Despite the cool and windy spring weather, over 40 members of the community participated in the 2nd Annual Chatham Hall Color Run held this past saturday.
Students and faculty alike enjoyed the festive 5k race through campus, with volunteers stationed every half-mile armed with neon-colored powder to cover the runners as they completed the course.

This year’s run was organized to benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), with proceeds going to benefit efforts to fight stigmas surrounding mental illness throughout the country. Representing the Community Life student group, race organizers Bette Rathjen '18 and Rachel Hightman ’18 said, "We are very excited to bring light to an important issue, mental illness, throught this fun activity, And hope to can continue this event in the future. We also hope this race will help to open minds about the stigmas surrounding mental illness."

A school-wide cookout was held on the lawn in front of Pruden after the race,  complete with music, hamburgers, and a carnival dunk tank. Students lined up for the chance to knock their friends and faculty into the cold water, and the night ended with students throwing an impromptu dance party on the front steps. The day made for another successful Color Run, and a welcome reprieve as students prepare for their upcoming exams.
