Fun Fact!

Eleanor Butterfield '25
Have you ever wondered why “X” represents a kiss? “X” came from the old tradition of symbolizing the cross in writings.
During the middle ages it was used to sign letters, paperwork, and to certify books. It became common for people to kiss the “X” as a sign of their faith, and the action soon came to be known as “sealing with a kiss”.
