Family Spotlight: The Dennys

When the Dennys came to campus for the first time, it was during a five-school tour of the East Coast. Yet Chatham Hall stood out immediately.
“When we arrived on campus at Chatham, it immediately felt like home,” said Jenny Denny, mother of Emma ’21 and Kate ’25 and current president of the Parents Advisory Committee.

“The staff and current parents were extremely warm and supportive. One of my favorite things was seeing the learning style that was a lecture style vs being taught ‘at.’ I loved that Emma wouldn't be able to hide in the back of the class but would be encouraged to share her opinions and thoughts.”

“Our favorite thing has been watching Emma grow and spread her wings,” agreed Joel Denny. “The resources and opportunities that Emma has been able to enjoy and experience have been life changing for her. We are so happy that Emma chose Chatham and are equally excited to be the parents of a future Chatham Turtle Class of 2025.”

As a family, the Dennys describe themselves as “foodies” and enjoy trying out new restaurants and visiting new cities. They also enjoy the slower pace of mountains, beaches, and lakes and count paddle boarding as a family favorite activity.

For the Dennys, having their daughters attend a girls’ school is extremely important. They find that it facilitates ease of learning and encourages girls to challenge themselves.

“The School is always willing to support the girls in their learning and their Advisors are invaluable to helping the girls navigate being away from home,” said Jenny.

“Emma's Advisor has been a huge help in keeping us informed and even being a surrogate mom to Emma. I can't imagine Emma at another school so we would encourage the families to ask questions and to come visit the school. The Admissions department can help interested families set up a tour of the beautiful campus and meet all the warm staff and girls.”
