2025: Frazier Millner Armstrong ’77
After graduating from Chatham Hall in 1977, Frazier Millner Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and launched a dynamic career rooted in storytelling, collaboration, and service.
Beginning as an award-winning journalist, Armstrong went on to hold leadership roles at the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Richmond Symphony, where she helped shape public narratives and strengthen community engagement. Today, she leads a successful strategic communications consulting practice, working with mission-driven organizations such as Virginia Community Capital, StoryCorps, and the Virginia Arts Festival.
A dedicated nonprofit leader, Armstrong has served on numerous boards, including the Library of Virginia Foundation, Leadership Metro Richmond, Capital Trees, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, to which she was appointed by Governor Ralph Northam. Her passion for the arts and community revitalization has fueled initiatives across Richmond and beyond.
As past president of the YWCA of Richmond, Armstrong led a successful $8.5 million capital campaign to expand services for women and children. She also helped found Richmond’s Women’s Dinner Club, furthering her commitment to empowering women and building connections.
Armstrong’s long-standing dedication to Chatham Hall is equally impressive. She has served on the Alumnae Council, has been a loyal donor for 33 consecutive years, and will begin a new term on the Board of Trustees in 2025.
Chatham Hall is proud to name Frazier Millner Armstrong ’77 as the 2025 Distinguished Alumna Award recipient, honoring a life and career defined by leadership, service, and a profound belief in the power of women’s voices.
