Visit, Stay, & Explore

Chatham Hall combines the best of small-town life with easily accessible big cities. There’s something for everyone in the area!

Located in a town of 1,300 residents in southwestern Virginia, Chatham Hall offers its students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to truly get to know and have an impact on the local community. The Town of Chatham is not only home to Chatham Hall and Hargrave Military Academy, but a walkable main street boasting eateries, salons, local government offices, and nonprofits, a bookshop, and even the town newspaper. The Chatham Public Library and a variety of parks are all within walking distance as well, and the Chatham Rotary Club and other community organizations host events throughout the year.

Just slightly further afield are Virginia cities Danville, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, and Roanoke and North Carolina cities Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill all within a two-hour drive. Richmond, Va. and Charlotte, N.C. are both within a three-hour drive. This proximity translates to easy day and weekend trips to enjoy cultural activities, shopping, athletic events, and more!
