Chatham Hall Students Participate in the Coldest Night of the Year Walk
Walking for a Cause
Last weekend, several Chatham Hall students, led by the Community Life League and supported by Ms. Vicky Cruz, traveled to Danville to participate in the Coldest Night of the Year walk. Rooted in a spirit of service and a continued commitment to supporting those experiencing homelessness in southern Virginia, our students truly walked for a cause.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a fundraising walk organized by House of Hope in support of local charities that serve individuals and families facing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. The walk takes place in the heart of winter as a tangible reminder that for many in our community, it is indeed cold out there. While the evening may not have been our coldest this season, it is an intentional moment for bringing awareness of our neighbors who face harsh conditions and uncertain housing every day.
For our students, the experience was both eye-opening and empowering. As an all-girls’ boarding school grounded in leadership and service, Chatham Hall encourages students to look beyond campus and engage meaningfully with the wider community. The Coldest Night of the Year walk provided a powerful opportunity to do just that. Each step taken represented awareness, compassion, and a desire to be part of the solution.
Thank you to the Community Life League for supporting this effort, to Ms. Vicky Cruz and Ms. Frankie Beyer for helping bring it to fruition, and to House of Hope for continuing this meaningful work. Also, a special thank you to K10s Photography LLC for sharing their photos with us!
