Boarding Your Horse

The main function of Chatham Hall's Riding Program is to serve the students in the school by providing an active teaching program with varied riding activities that offer learning experiences and good sportsmanship. The boarding of private horses is a smaller part of the whole program.
The Riding Program at Chatham Hall gives students the opportunity to have privately owned horses at the school under the following conditions:

The horse must be suitable for both the rider’s ability and the Chatham Hall Riding Program. Most of the riding at Chatham Hall requires a horse schooled to go safely, cooperatively, and obediently in a group lesson/class setting. Most riders should have experienced and schooled horses that allow them to improve their riding through instruction, as well as to gain educational and enjoyable experiences in one or more areas (i.e. showing, field riding competitions, trail riding, etc.)

The horse must be mentally and physically sound in order to participate in the Riding Program. Unsound, nervous, mentally upset, soured, rank and or horses that do not contain proper focus for the Riding Program are generally unacceptable. Any horse that needs medication to appear sound for regular work is also not acceptable.
