Fiber Up-cycle Workshop Culminates in Fashion Show & Market
On Sunday, April 27, creativity, sustainability, and community spirit came together in full force at Chatham Hall as students showcased their work from the Fiber Up-cycle Workshop with a vibrant fashion show and market.

Over the past four weeks, a dedicated group of student designers and makers explored sustainable fashion through fiber arts—up-cycling, designing, crafting, and collaborating with guidance from faculty and artists. The culminating event was a celebration of their hard work and vision, bringing together members of the broader Chatham Hall community for an afternoon of creativity and conscious craft.

The Makers
A special shout-out goes to the student creators behind the up-cycled looks:
Lainey R. ’26, Lucy Page E. ’26, Avery H. ’26, Kayla A.D. ’28, Annie Quinn H. ’26, Jane W. ’26, and Mary Blair T. ’25. These students poured their time and talents into reimagining textiles and turning cast-off materials into wearable art and fiber-based designs.

The Fashion Show

The runway lit up with personality and flair, thanks to our models:
Rector Sara Stephenson, Jayla B. ’28, Victoria C. ’27, Lainey R. ’26, Ana C.G. ’26, Eleanor B. ’25, Liana J. ’28, Annie Quinn H. ’26, and Irene N. ’25, who also took on the role of DJ Supreme to set the vibe. Behind the lens, Emily S.G. ’28 captured it all, supporting Ms. Smith with her keen photographer’s eye.

The Market

Following the show, community members explored a pop-up market filled with handmade goods and up-cycled creations:
  • Charlie H. ’28 led the crochet and knitting table, featuring her own embroidery work (see photo below!).
  • Jane W. ’26 ran the fiber sculpture and handbag up-cycle station, showcasing functional art.
  • Mrs. Morris displayed her beautiful quilts, and Ms. Jarrett shared her intricate beaded jewelry.
  • Kayla A.D. ’28 and Emily S.G. ’28 helped manage the community voting on favorite pieces and displays.
This event was more than just a show—it was a reflection of how students are engaging with sustainability, design, and each other. Through collaboration and care, they reminded us that fashion and fiber arts can be thoughtful, fun, and deeply meaningful.

Bravo to all who participated and supported this beautiful afternoon of fiber-forward creativity!
