Student Invited to USHJA Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session

Avery H. '26 Heads to Kentucky
Chatham Hall is thrilled to share that Avery H. ’26 will participate in the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session this weekend in Kentucky. Avery will take part in the Stable Management track, a prestigious opportunity designed for young equestrians eager to deepen their knowledge of horse care and barn management at the highest levels of the sport.

The MZ Farms/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program was established to help young riders advance their horsemanship and riding skills under the guidance of top equestrian professionals. Since its inception in 2009, the EAP has produced numerous champions across the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings, including winners of the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals, the ASPCA Maclay Finals, and the IHSA Nationals.

The Stable Management Trainee Program, in which Avery will participate, offers an immersive, behind-the-scenes experience in the care and management of elite equine athletes. Trainees work alongside experienced stable managers, learning the intricacies of horse health, grooming, nutrition, and overall barn operations. The program emphasizes not only technical skill, but also responsibility, organization, and leadership—core values that reflect the Chatham Hall spirit of courage, integrity, and excellence.

Following regional sessions held throughout the country, a select number of riders and stable managers are invited to the National Training Session, where they continue their learning under the guidance of Olympic Gold Medalist Joe Fargis. Participants are evaluated on their knowledge, horsemanship, and professionalism as they gain invaluable experience working with top horses and trainers in the field.

Avery’s invitation to the national clinic is a remarkable achievement, recognizing her dedication, discipline, and love for horses. Her participation highlights not only her individual talent but also Chatham Hall’s strong tradition of excellence in equestrian pursuits. We are so proud of Avery and can’t wait to see all she learns and accomplishes at this incredible opportunity.
