Showing, Supporting, and Shining!

Chatham Hall Host Annual SWVHJA
On April 5 and 6, Chatham Hall’s riding rings were buzzing with excitement as we hosted our annual Southwest Virginia Hunter/Jumper Association (SWVHJA) show and our very first United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Outreach show! From experienced competitors to riders entering their first classes, it was a weekend filled with personal bests, new milestones, and the kind of energy that only comes from a true love of the sport.

Seventeen of our own riders competed across divisions—from the 2’9” classes all the way down to Pleasure Under Saddle—demonstrating their hard work, dedication, and the strong foundation of our equestrian program.

But our students didn’t stop at shining in the saddle. They also stepped up in major ways behind the scenes, assisting with barn management and serving as a vital part of the jump crew. Their efforts were essential in making both shows a success and reflected the values of sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork that define our Riding Program.

We were thrilled to welcome so many members of the horse community to campus and proud to host inclusive, accessible competitions where all riders feel supported and celebrated.
