On November 8, 2025, the Chatham community came together to honor Theodore “Ted” Bruning, a beloved Chatham Hall teacher and mentor who passed away at 95. Over more than thirty years, Ted shaped generations of students with his warmth, intellect, and care, leaving a lasting impact both inside and beyond the classroom. The Class of 1966 dedicated their yearbook to Ted and his wife, Marty, and later endowed the Theodore E. Bruning, Jr. Chair in English in his honor, a testament to his lasting influence. Even after his retirement, Ted remained close to Chatham, continuing to inspire students and alumnae alike. His legacy of curiosity, kindness, and dedication lives on in the Chatham Hall community.
