Sridha Chadalavada ’20 prepares to teach English and mentor students in Madrid through a Fulbright Fellowship.
From Capitol Hill to Madrid, Sridha Chadalavada ’20 is charting a purposeful path rooted in curiosity, courage, and community. Sridha has already left her mark in public service, research, and education—all before her next major step: a Fulbright Fellowship.
After earning her degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (and a minor in Spanish) at Pomona College in May 2024, Sridha moved straight into action. She began with a coveted Congressional internship in the U.S. Hours of Representatives, followed by hands-on work with the County Board of Elections during a pivotal presidential election season. She’s currently serving as a research assistant in health policy under a Georgetown professor. And now, she’s preparing for the next big chapter: teaching English and mentoring students in Madrid through a Fulbright award that runs through June 2026.
“I developed an interest in teaching in college when I worked as a writing partner and tutor,” Sridha shares. That passion, paired with her Spanish minor and her growing interest in education as a powerful tool for global citizenship, inspired her Fulbright application. Sridha credits Chatham Hall as the foundation for her confidence and resilience. She recalls the challenge of leaving home and stepping into a brand-new environment as a 13-year old freshman, and how that experience set the tone for every risk she’s taken since.
“Chatham Hall was such a safe place to grow. I could try new things, make mistakes, and still be supported. That gave me the courage to embrace change and the unknown,” she says. “Even applying for the Fulbright, which felt huge and daunting—I thought, ‘What if I don’t get it?’ But then I reminded myself: I have something wonderful to contribute to this world despite how scary all of this change might feel.”
That mindset, formed early in the halls and classrooms of Chatham, is something she still carries. “It’s such a beautiful thing to learn at a young age: to take chances, explore new paths, and believe in yourself.”
From her first steps on campus as a young freshman to her upcoming journey to Madrid, Sridha Chadalavada continues to lead with heart, intellect, and a commitment to making meaningful change—wherever she goes.
