Chatham Hall Dancers Celebrate Courage, Friendship, and Joy

Belonging: The Chatham Hall Fall Dance Concert

Through movement, music, and expression, Chatham Hall’s Dance Company brought the power of connection to life during its Fall Dance Concert, Belonging, held October 29-31, 2026. Choreographed and directed by Mrs. Dana J. Brett, Belonging explored the themes of courage, growth, friendship, and joy, inviting audiences to experience the many ways dance can bring people together. Each performance celebrated the importance of finding your place, embracing new experiences, and discovering the confidence to be yourself.

The concert featured a variety of musical selections and choreography, including performances by the full Dance Company and student dancers Nadia C. ’27, Natalie C. ’28, Bailey Joy D. ’29, Scarlet D. ’29, Liana J. ’28, Mone S. ’27, Sophia S. ’27, Rachel W. ’28, and Edith V. G. ’28.  The repertoire ranged from the upbeat energy of “Got to Be Real” and a Selena disco medley to the heartfelt expression of “Staying,” “Prayer,” and “I Know the Plans.”

In her director’s note, Mrs. Brett reflected on the remarkable growth of her dancers over just 10 weeks of instruction. She praised their dedication, conscientious work ethic, kindness, and willingness to continually strengthen their technique. “I’ve watched them blossom and grow as dancers in every way,” Mrs. Brett shared. “I’ve never worked with such kind, thoughtful, sweet, and intelligent dancers. It has truly been a joyful experience teaching them each and every day in our beautiful dance space.”

Her message to the dancers was one of encouragement, gratitude, and a reminder of the lasting power of pursuing something you love. “Dance with all your heart!” she encouraged them, expressing her hope that the joy and passion they brought to the stage would give them confidence in all their varied pursuits and that they would carry these special memories with them throughout their lives.

The Fall Dance Concert was a celebration not only of the dancers’ artistic accomplishments, but also of the relationships, confidence, and sense of belonging that grow when girls are encouraged to explore their passions and share their gifts with others.

At Chatham Hall, every girl has a place to discover who she is, what she loves, and all that she can become. And sometimes, the most beautiful way to tell that story is through dance.
