On Sunday, May 10, students, faculty, and staff gathered in Dutch for iFest: Taste the World, a joyful celebration of culture, community, and global connection. The afternoon invited attendees to “explore the world” through food, conversation, and shared experiences, transforming campus into a vibrant showcase of traditions from around the globe.
Representing countries and regions including Puerto Rico, Cuba, Japan, Ethiopia, France, West Africa, the Caribbean, Ghana, India, and China, students and community members prepared and shared authentic dishes that reflected their heritage and personal stories. From savory favorites to sweet treats, each table offered not only a taste of a different culture but also an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the diversity that strengthens the Chatham Hall community.
Throughout the afternoon, laughter and conversation filled the room as students moved from table to table sampling foods, asking questions, and engaging with one another’s traditions. The event highlighted the power of food to bring people together and create meaningful moments of understanding and belonging.
While this was definitely a culinary experience, iFest was also a reflection of Chatham Hall’s global community and the value of learning from one another. Events like these encourage curiosity, empathy, and appreciation for perspectives beyond our own, reminding us that some of the most meaningful learning happens around a shared table.
Thank you to all of the students, faculty, and staff who helped organize, prepare, and share their cultures with the community. Your creativity, generosity, and pride made the afternoon both memorable and meaningful.
