An Evening of Music and Innovation: Welcoming Kathleen Hurt O’Hare P'17 to Chatham Hall

Welcoming Kathleen Hurt O’Hare ’P17 to Chatham Hall

Chatham Hall is delighted to welcome acclaimed local musician Kathleen Hurt O’Hare P'17 for a special concert on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. With a career spanning more than three decades, O’Hare has enriched the region through her performances in piano and chamber music, earning a reputation for both artistry and community impact.

A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, O’Hare has been deeply engaged in the local arts community. She currently serves as pianist at Chatham Baptist Church and has contributed as staff pianist and soloist with the Danville Symphony Orchestra. Her leadership also includes serving as the past president of the Danville Concert Association. In recognition of her dedication to the arts, she was appointed to the Virginia Commission for the Arts by Terry McAuliffe in 2016.

During the concert, O’Hare will perform works by Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, and Enrique Granados, offering a rich and expressive program that spans multiple musical eras. Throughout the evening, she will also share brief insights into each piece, inviting listeners into a deeper understanding of the music and the stories behind it.

This event is especially meaningful as part of a student-led initiative developed through Chatham Hall’s Global Entrepreneurship 2 class. Spearheaded by Jane W. ’26, the project reflects both creativity and purpose. Through her work launching MusiConnect, Jane has created an opportunity to connect musicians with the Chatham Hall community through performances, conversation, and shared musical experience, while gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship.

The concert is more than a performance; it is a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and the power of the arts to bring people together.

Join us for an evening of exceptional music and community connection.
