Welcoming Mr. Greg Taeger P’28 to Advanced Computer Science Coding

Guest Expert Spotlight in the Classroom

Our Advanced Computer Science Coding class had the privilege of welcoming guest speaker Mr. Greg Taeger P’28, whose two decades of experience in the tech industry brought both inspiration and real-world perspective to our students.

Mr. Taeger holds a B.S. in mathematics and computer science from Eastern Illinois University and has built an accomplished 20-year career specializing in automation, API development, and back-end engineering. His work sits at the heart of the systems and tools we rely on every day—making him an ideal voice to expand our students’ understanding of what coding looks like beyond the classroom.

Throughout his career, Mr. Taeger has also had the joy of mentoring interns and young graduates, helping emerging developers find their confidence, build strong foundations, and discover pathways into the rapidly evolving world of technology. His visit to campus was a natural extension of that passion.

During his time with Mr. Dan Waters’ Advanced Computer Science Coding class, Mr. Taeger shared insights into the problem-solving mindset essential to programming, the collaborative nature of professional development teams, and the creative processes behind building efficient, scalable systems. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, explore industry trends, and hear firsthand how computer science knowledge can translate into diverse and exciting careers.

We are grateful to Mr. Taeger for sharing his expertise, his story, and his encouragement with our students. The visit offered a meaningful look at the possibilities that await our aspiring developers—and reminded us of the power of community members who are eager to support and inspire the next generation of technologists.
Thank you, Mr. Taeger, for spending the day with us!
