Chatham Hall Leaders Visit Alumna Melanie D. Collins ’88 at the International African American Museum

A visit to Charleston brought an alumna and Chatham Hall together.

Chatham Hall’s Rector, Sara Stephenson, and Director of Strategic Advancement, Shannon Reynolds, recently traveled to Charleston, South Carolina, for a meaningful visit with Melanie D. Collins ’88, who currently serves as the Director of Human Resources, Talent & Culture at the International African American Museum (IAAM).

During their visit, Melanie personally guided Sara and Shanon through the museum, sharing insights into its powerful exhibits and the incredible impact of its community programs. The IAAM tells the rich and complex story of African Americans’ journey, resilience, and influence, standing as a place of remembrance, education, and inspiration for visitors from around the world.

“Meeting Melanie in her professional setting was truly inspiring,” said Rector Stephenson. “Her leadership at the IAAM embodies the values we hold dear at Chatham Hall: curiosity, courage, and a commitment to making a difference in the world.”

Melanie shared how her experiences at Chatham Hall helped shape her leadership journey, emphasizing the importance of community and compassion in every space she works to cultivate.

Chatham Hall is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of its alumnae and the meaningful contributions they make in their communities and beyond. Visits like this one highlight the powerful connections that continue to grow between Chatham Hall and its alumnae around the world, a network of leaders who inspire, empower, and lead with purpose.
