Empowering Girls' Voice in D.C.

Students and Faculty Head to Close Up
Four Chatham Hall students—Grace O. '26, Yoyo B. '26, Raine B. '27, and Lucy Paige E. '26—along with faculty members Vicky Cruz ‘10 and Kieran Conrad, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to take part in Close Up: Empowering Girls' Voice – Youth Agenda for Policy Action 2025.

Hosted in our nation’s capital, this transformative three-day event brought together high school students from across the country to explore some of today’s most pressing political topics. Through a series of dynamic discussions, collaborative group work, and policy presentations, students engaged deeply with issues ranging from the economy and education to healthcare and equity.

In small-group settings, Chatham Hall students had the opportunity to debate ideas, listen to diverse perspectives, and step into leadership roles as they crafted policy proposals aimed at real-world impact. From navigating the complexities of public speaking to grappling with new political concepts, they demonstrated confidence, resilience, and a commitment to being informed changemakers.

This experience was more than just a trip—it was a powerful opportunity for our students to see themselves as future leaders, empowered by their voices and equipped to make a difference. Chatham Hall is proud to support and celebrate the leadership journeys of Grace, Yoyo, Raine, and Lucy Paige, and we look forward to seeing how they bring these skills back to campus and beyond.
