Riding Kicks Off with First Show, Parris '27 Named Reserve Champion

On Sept. 30, three Chatham Hall riders set off to Hollins University for the SWVHJA show, the first of the school year.
Up first was Lainey Risley ‘26, who made her seasonal debut on one of Chatham Hall’s newest horses, Otis. She competed on the Flat in a competitive group, delivering a third place run with beautiful sitting trot and upwards to downwards transitions.

Next up was Mallory Stephenson ‘27, competing for the first time for Chatham Hall. On the School’s King, Mallory rode strong and confidently on the Flat and Over Fences, earning her multiple fourth place ribbons.

New to the Hunter ring after previously competing as an Eventer, Madeline Parris '27 placed third in her first division with sharp transitions and excellent spacing. Parris went on to win second place in her next division, and was named a Reserve Champion.

The riders were accompanied by Coach Emma Lane and Barn Fellow Kat Gay. The program will be back on the road on Oct. 14 & 15 for the Sedgefield at the Park ‘C’ Show in Raeford, NC.
