Students and Visitors Enjoy Fall Family Day Festivities

Chatham Hall
On October 12, Chatham Hall welcomed the family and friends of current students to campus for Fall Family Day.
The heavy rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the festivities, starting Thursday evening with the National Honor Society induction ceremony for new members. In a ceremony held in the Van Voorhis Lecture Hall, NHS chapter advisor, Dr. Erin McHugh, welcomed the new members and remarked on the outstanding academic achievements of the Chatham Hall community. Current members inducted each of the honorees with warm words and an NHS pin to signify their acceptance.

On Friday morning, Rector Suzanne Buck delivered a welcome address to parents, friends, and visitors in St. Mary’s Chapel. Afterward, visitors attended classes with their daughters while the Junior class and their families participated in the Best College Fit counseling workshop in Van Voorhis Lecture Hall. Led by former college Dean of Admissions and industry analyst, Peter Van Buskirk, Best College Fit gives families the tools they need to find the healthiest and most productive college fit for their student by closing the informational gap between the rhetoric coming from a college and the reality. You can learn more about this excellent session by visiting the Best College Fit website.

In all, Family Day provided an excellent opportunity for friends and family to experience the students’ daily lives, and to enjoy the warmth and welcome of the Chatham Hall community.
