Community Celebrates a Year of Academic Accomplishment

Chatham Hall
On April 22, the Chatham Hall community gathered in St. Mary’s Chapel to celebrate the academic accomplishments of students.
This annual celebration honors girls from all grades for their outstanding work throughout the year, with presentations ranging from the Dean’s and Rector’s lists announcements to College Awards from schools such as Rensselaer, UVA, and Sewanee.

During the celebration, the Chatham Hall community also took time to dedicate the new chairs in St. Mary’s Chapel. The chairs were given to the school thanks to a financial gift made by a generous donor, who was on hand for the dedication. The donor joined Rector Suzanne Buck and Chaplain Rev. Dr. Ned Edwards at the transept for the dedication, with the gathered community participating in a collective prayer.

The ceremony also welcomed in the next class of student leaders with the announcement of the Honor Council President. After the school-wide election and announcement of the 2018-2019 Honor Council earlier in the month, the president was voted on by the school community and announced at the celebration. The council president for the 2018-2019 school year will be India Moore ’19, and in the role of St. Mary’s Crucifer, also announced during the ceremony, will be Caroline Slicer ’19.

A full list of the students and faculty recognized during the ceremony can be found here.
