Traveling the World with Student Diplomacy Corps

Chatham Hall
Each year, a handful of Chatham Hall students have the opportunity to travel the world thanks to the Student Diplomacy Corps.
The organization offers experiential programs with a network of leading international non-profit educational institutions. These cross-cultural programs are 3 to 5 weeks in duration and explore universal issues like biodiversity, sustainability, anthropology, food and nutrition, art and music, and voluntary service.

In the past year, students have enjoyed thematic programs ranging from seeing the effects of urbanism on French society to exploring the link between geometry and history in Mexican cuisine, and studying the history, art, and culture of Rome. Each trip involves professional-led seminars and activities tied together around the theme of their chosen program, service, a short internship, a two-week homestay, and time in the capital city of the country or countries in which they immerse themselves. Tony Allen, co-founder of Student Diplomacy Corps, visited Chatham Hall in December, speaking to many girls who were interested in such opportunities. Applications are open now for current tenth and eleventh graders and are due to Dean Griswold by Wednesday, February 7.
