Winter Sports Prepare for Conference Competition

Chatham Hall
Winter sports are in full swing, with both the swimming and basketball teams well into their regular season play.
The varsity swim team has been on a hot streak since the beginning of the season, with members of the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams posting state meet qualifying times at the first meet in December. That success has continued through the rest of the season, with additional team members placing well in both individual and relay events. Swimmers will be back in the pool on January 23rd when the team will travel to North Cross for one of the last regular season competitions before the conference meet.

Varsity basketball has also been hard at work throughout the season, with a comeback rally in their most recent game last Tuesday against North Cross. After falling behind in the first half,  Delali Som-Pimpong ’19 posted 11 points, with teammate Danesia Parker ’19 following up with a quick 6 points coming off the bench. The team came alive in the third quarter, bringing the score neck and neck to the very end before suffering a narrow loss. The team will have a chance at redemption when they face off against North Cross again next Friday, January 26th.
