Riding Team Sees Wins in Post-Season Break Competition

Chatham Hall
With the break in the IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) schedule, several Chatham Hall riders have been traveling to outside open horse shows on school horses. On March 25th, Elizabeth Trexler '17 and Isabella Hubbard '19 traveled to Sedgefield Show Grounds in Greensboro, NC to compete. Hubbard debuted in the Long Stirrup Equitation on Chatham Hall mount, Ortello, finishing with a 3rd and a 5th over fences. She earned a 4th place finish in the 15-17 Equitation on the Flat. Trexler rode Ramiro, also a Chatham Hall mount, in the 15-17 Equitation on the Flat, winning the class. She also had several strong rounds in the Children's Hunters, and was awarded Reserve Champion of the division.

On April 2nd, three students traveled to Hollins University to compete in a local SWVHJA (Southwest Virginia Hunter Jumper Association) Horse Show. Ellie Johnson '20 & Lily Porter '19 rode Chatham Hall's Truckee Whisp, and Susie Wu '18 rode Chatham Hall's Kachina Doll. Johnson ended up as Reserve Champion of the Pleasure Flat Division, had strong rides in the Pre-Beginner Equitation ending up with a 2nd place, a 5th place over fences, and a 3rd on the flat. In the Beginner Equitation, Wu placed 3rd in both of her over fences rounds and won the flat class. Porter closed up the show day with a 1st place finish in a very competitive Pre-Children's’/Adult Hunter Flat Class.
