International Students Enjoy Washington, D.C.

During Fall Long Weekend, Chatham Hall introduced some of our new international students to Washington, D.C. during a multi-day trip.
Students explored the nation’s capital including its monuments, museums, and lively culture. They also enjoyed seeing more of Virginia. Luckily, the rain from Hurricane Ian did not dampen spirits as the students created a host of new memories. Photos from the trip are now available on the School’s SmugMug account.

“The trip to Washington, D.C. was offered as an experience for students who could not return home for Fall Long Weekend. For many of Chatham Hall's breaks, international students are unable to travel 'home' and are left to seek a homestay experience with a friend or classmate,”  explained Associate Director of Residential Life Kate Branciforte

International students at Chatham Hall represent 14 countries, each of which brings its unique culture and broad perspectives to our School community. Through the generosity of the Chatham Hall community, international students are also afforded the chance to be hosted by a local family during breaks.

“Hosting an international student provides a great way for Chatham Hall families to learn about a new culture as well as allows our international students to experience living in an American household,” noted International Student Association Coordinator Charlotte Williams.

Any families interested in volunteering to host international students for an upcoming school break, please email Ms. Williams for more information. We thank those who have hosted students in the past!
