Riders Head to McNairs for Second IEA Show

On Oct. 8, the IEA team traveled to MacNairs Country Acres in Raleigh, NC to compete in their second show of the season.
While the team finished 5th, the riders showed incredible individual improvement and great sportsmanship throughout the day.

Carolyn Whatley '23 and Elle Reeves '25 started the team out in the Intermediate division, both getting the same challenging draw. They rode with tenacity and pulled off solid rounds with Whatley placing 5th in Over Fences and Reeves 6th on the Flat.

In JV Novice, Julia Schultz '24 showed immense improvement in her ride from the last show, earning her 5th Over Fences and 3rd on the Flat. Lainey Risley '26 had a wonderful IEA debut, overcoming her nerves to finish 3rd in Over Fences and 1st on the Flat.

Four riders then competed in the JV Beginner division, including veteran Angelina Jin '23 coming in 2nd and new team members Stella Bormann '23 in 3rd, Olive Ye '24 in 4th, and Maeve Raible '25 in 6th.

Overall, the show was a great experience for our young group of riders. They will be hosting their next show next on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Chatham Hall.
