Larsen '22 Named National Merit Finalist

Ellie Larsen ‘22 has been named a National Merit Finalist by the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation due to her outstanding high school academic record, endorsement and recommendation by Chatham Hall leadership, and SAT or ACT score.
She was one of 16,000 fall semifinalists who will now be considered for one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships which total more than $31 million.

More than a million juniors across the country entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This national pool of semifinalists included the highest scoring entrants in each state and represented less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors.

“For Ellie to be recognized among the highest scores in the nation is remarkable,” noted Dean of College Counseling Dr. Erin McHugh. “I can’t wait to see how Ellie will continue her educational journey once she graduates from Chatham Hall.”

Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference.

National Merit Scholarship winners of 2022 will be announced in four waves beginning in April and concluding in July. These scholarship recipients will join more than 362,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.

Congratulations, Ellie!
