IEA Team Competes in Zone Finals

From March 18-20, seven Chatham Hall riders traveled to Townsend, DE to participate in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Zone 3 Finals.
The competition opened with two individual riders competing, including Annabele Whitehead ‘22 in Open Flat where she finished eighth in a competitive field and Sophie Croker Poole ‘23 in Walk Trot Canter.

In the team competition, 12 qualifying schools from throughout the Zone took to the ring to ride. Chatham Hall started strong with a third-place finish for Whitehead in Open Flat followed by a seventh-place finish for Zoey Horn ‘22 in Intermediate Flat. In Open Fences, Kensington Nelson ‘22 also placed seventh with a determined trip on a tough draw. Piper Vogel ‘22 represented the team next in Intermediate Fences and had a quality trip earning seventh. Keeping the streak alive, Croker Poole earned another seventh in Walk Trot Canter for the team. The afternoon saw Elle Reeves ‘25 representing Chatham Hall at her first Zone Finals with a fifth in Novice Flat. Wrapping up the day was Carolyn Whatley ‘23 with a solid round that ended out of the ribbons.

The team finished ninth overall, while placing in an impressive six out of seven total team classes. Notably, Horn earned the Zone 3 Scholarship Award to be used at her college of choice, the University of Lynchburg where she will be riding next year.

Great job to all of our riders this season!
