Turtles Return with a Competitive Fall Season

This fall, 80% of students participated in a team sport, making for a tremendous return to competition!
Varsity Volleyball compiled a 6-6 regular season, qualifying for the Blue Ridge Conference (BRC) Tournament for the first time in several years. At the end of the season, Kennedy Martin '22 was named 2nd Team All-BRC. JV Volleyball had a competitive season with a 4-4 overall record, one of their best in recent years.

Varsity Tennis were in and out of VISAA State rankings for most of the season. At the end of the regular season, Christine Leak '22 earned 1st Team All-BRC honors and Lucia Stoneman '22 2nd Team All-BRC. In his first season as head coach, Nathan Witkowski was named BRC Coach of the Year! Though the JV Tennis team didn't get to compete against many other schools, they did a tremendous job of showing the growth they made from the start to the end of the season.

Varsity Field Hockey had a strong season, seeing four students named 1st team All-BRC, including Mollie Erwin '23, Johanna von Holleben '23, Kellyn Norman '22, and Raifah Alam '22. The end of the season offered some adversity to the team with the passing of Head Coach Cathy "La" LaDuke, who was named a BRC Coach of the Year.

Varsity Cross Country had a successful season under first-year coach Jake Miller. Each student-athlete cut time and the team had great finish overall, ending of the season with a 5th-place finish in the BRC Championships and 9th overall in the VISAA State Championships. Three student-athletes also finished inside the top 50 overall!

The fall riders competed at multiple horse shows throughout the season in addition to learning at the barn each day, some preparing for the IEA season.

Congratulations to all of our fall student-athletes!
