Turtles Host, Compete in SWVHJA

On Saturday, Oct. 30, Chatham Hall's Riding Program hosted their first South West Virginia Hunter Jumper Association (SWVHJA) open show of the school year.
"The SWVHJA is a great opportunity for students in the Riding Program to showcase their skills in the show ring, as well as opening the beautiful Mars Arena to others in the area," noted Interim Director of Riding Frankie Beyer.

The Chatham Hall riders started off strong in the Junior and Pony Pleasure Hunter divisions where Olive Ye '24 and Lenski Rittmeister took home reserve champion in her first horse show. Additionally, Angelina Jin '24 and Eve Dunnagan '23 took home some great ribbons as well on our Starbucks and the University of Lynchburg's Pixie Stix, respectively.

In the pre-beginner division, Julia Schultz '24 and Chatham Hall's Kachina Doll were Champions overall, while Maddie McCoy '24 and Nashi had some strong rides with great results.

In the Pleasure Hunters, Dunnagan and Pixie Stix put in a beautiful round for a win over fences. Regina Salinas Olivares '25 piloted Marvelous Martha to a win in the Chatham Hall Mini Medal and a win in the 14 and under Equitation on the Flat.

In the Hopeful Hunters, Taylor Xu '23 piloted Fenton to some strong placings, and finished out her day with a third in a competitive 15-17 Equitation on the Flat. Elle Reeves '25 rode Be Dazzled to a win in one of her over fences trips as well.

In the Special Hunters, Vance Luster '23 earned Reserve Champion honors with her horse According II You after a win in her first over fences trip. Luster also took home the top placing in the 15-17 Equitation with a strong ride.

Wrapping up the day was Zoey Horn '22 on her own Kashtan with a win in the under saddle.

It was a great day for all our riders with smart riding across the board. Up next, the IEA team will be on the road ahead of their first home show of the season on Saturday, Nov. 20.
