IEA Team Takes 3rd at First IEA Show of the Season

On Sept. 19, the IEA team traveled to their first show of the season at Pleasant Hill Farm in Hillsborough, NC. Each individual rider represented Chatham Hall well and the team started out the year with a third place finish overall!
Annabele Whitehead '22 and Kensington Nelson '22 both had strong rides in a challenging Open Flat class where all the riders were asked to compete without stirrups for the duration. Nelson took home fourth while Whitehead finished out of the ribbons. In Open Fences, Nelson won in her first show at this division.

Up next Piper Vogel '22, Vance Luster '23, and Eve Dunnagan '23 all represented Chatham Hall in Intermediate. Over fences, Luster took home second in a competitive class of 11 other entries. Vogel then won blue on the flat, with Luster pinning second, and Dunnagan out of the ribbons aboard a tough draw.

The afternoon saw Carolyn Whatley '23 as the sole competitor in the Novice division. With a beautiful trip over fences she took home a third place ribbon. On the flat, she finished out of the ribbons amidst a tough class.

The day was completed with Sophie Croker Poole '23 and Maddie McCoy '24 competing in Walk Trot Canter. McCoy had a strong ride in her first IEA show, and Poole finished fourth overall.

The IEA team will next be traveling at the end of October followed by several shows in November ahead of Thanksgiving Break. Great job, riders!
