“I Too Have Wings” Art Installation Unveiled

As part of Chatham Hall’s Women’s History Month Celebration, community members came together to help create a public installation honoring the women who have taught, led, encouraged, supported, and inspired them.
Students, faculty, and staff alike wrote on paper feathers the names of family members, friends, teachers, coaches, mentors, authors, artists, celebrities, and more who have contributed to their life journeys. Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department Kristen Morrison then crafted the feathers into a large pair of wings unveiled in the Well on April 13.

“The wings symbolize the collective strength and influence of the women who have shaped our lives,” explained Morrison.

All community members are now welcome to have their photo taken in front of the wings.

“This project is an inspiration and the installation is gorgeous to see on display,” said Rector Connell, echoing the sentiments of many.
