Family Spotlight: The Andrews

For Sonja Andrews ‘89, a real estate and probate lawyer with Andrews Law Firm LLC, having her daughter Zion Andrews ‘22 attend Chatham Hall is a happy continuation of a family legacy.
“I loved that I had an amazing time at Chatham, so I wanted Zion to have some of those same experiences,” she said. “I let her take the lead on where she would go because the school was for her and not for me. She chose Chatham Hall on her own, and I can’t say that I’m not happy that she is carrying on my legacy.”

Among the Chatham Hall experiences Andrews is glad to share with her daughter is Senior Chapel Talks.

“I love the idea of Chapel talks. When I was going to Chatham Hall, my Chapel talk gave me the chance to share a part of myself with my community,” she said. “I loved hearing other people’s stories and wisdom.”

Andrews has seen Zion’s years at Chatham Hall have a transformative impact.

“The things that you feel and the things that you are concerned about are usually what boarding school forms in your kids. You might be scared that they aren’t ready or that they are too dependent, but those are the things that boarding school brings out in your kids,” she said.

“Boarding school has made my daughter so independent and allowed her to come into her own power. We do miss her dearly, but boarding school has made the time we have together even more special.”
