Faculty & Staff Enjoy Winter Wellness Series

Living Well at Chatham Hall is a commitment that health, wellness, and balance be at the center of all that the School does. This focus brings exciting opportunities not only to students, but to the adults in the Chatham Hall community as well.
“Faculty and staff are an integral part of the Chatham Hall community,” said Dean of Athletics Laura Clay, co-director of Living Well.

“This school year has been anything but normal, and we knew that many of our colleagues were interested in activities that would not only inspire wellness but allow them a chance to gather together.”

The Winter Wellness series for faculty and staff debuted in January with Coach Clay offering 30-minute low impact workouts and Chaplain Barksdale hosting an evening on Caring for Our Spiritual Lives. February will feature a trivia night, student versus faculty dodgeball game, and an “artrageous” evening of painting, among other offerings. In March, faculty yoga and exercises classes will round out the schedule.

“We tried to make sure that there were activities that would appeal to a variety of interests,” said Director of Admission and Affordability Wynne Overton, a Living Well committee member.  “So far we have seen new faces at each event and I’m hopeful that will continue as others attend activities that appeal to them as self-care.”

Living Well was designed to include nine dimensions of wellness within the Chatham Hall community: intellectual, physical, spiritual, financial, emotional, environmental, occupational, social, and inclusive. These dimensions are the foundation of decisions and programming across campus life.

“While everyone must look at all nine dimensions of wellness for true balance, often there is one dimension that needs more immediate care than others,” noted Clay. “Our Winter Wellness series has diverse activities that will hopefully offer opportunities to fulfill a variety of needs within our faculty and staff community.”
