IEA Team Qualifies for Regionals Following Success at Two Shows

The Chatham Hall IEA team kicked off Thanksgiving Break by traveling to Townley Equestrian Center on Nov. 21 & 22 to compete.
The first show started off strong with Annabele Whitehead '22 grabbing two wins in the Open Flat and Fences. Kensington Nelson '22 took home a blue ribbon in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat while Zoey Horn '22 placed fourth. All three riders qualified for Regional Finals in both flat and fences after the weekend, a true accomplishment.

That afternoon, Vance Luster '23 grabbed a second in Novice Fences. On the flat, Carolyn Whatley '23 took third followed by Julia Brown '21 with fourth. Luster was consistent, earning second place in the Novice Flat while Eve Dunnagan '23 took fourth in the second section. In Walk Trot Canter, Sophie Croker Poole '23 placed third in a big class.

The team ended up overall champion, getting them within two points of qualifying for Regionals as a team.

On Nov. 22, the competition started out with Zoë Holliday '21 earning a well-deserved third in Open Flat, while Jolie Crisson '21 grabbed a pair of fifths in Open Flat and Fences. In Intermediate Fences, Nelson took home second with Horn at third. On the flat, Nelson placed second again. In Novice Fences, Caroline Hall '21 earned first out of a large and competitive class, and Brown came home with a fourth-place finish. On the flat, Luster grabbed the win followed by Hall at third, Whatley at fourth, and Brown at fifth. Wrapping up the day, Sam Richey '23 placed fourth in Walk Trot Canter.

The team earned fourth place overall with enough points to officially qualify for Regional Finals. Team members who live locally will travel back to Townley on Dec. 5 for the final show of the year.

Congratulations and good luck, riders!
