Community Enjoys Fall Family Day

Chatham Hall
The campus was bustling with activity on Friday, October 4, as family and friends joined the Chatham Hall community for Family Day.
The festivities started Thursday evening with the National Honor Society induction of 15 new members. In a ceremony held in St. Mary’s Chapel, NHS chapter advisor, Dr. Erin McHugh, welcomed the new members and remarked on the outstanding academic achievements of the Chatham Hall community.  Of the event, Dr. McHugh said, “We were proud to induct new members to the National Honor Society. In addition to impressive academic records, our new inductees all demonstrate strong leadership, a commitment to service, and commendable character. ”

On Friday morning, Rector Rachel A. Connell delivered a welcome address to parents, friends, and visitors in St. Mary’s Chapel, followed the annual Flag Ceremony honoring the myriad different nationalities that comprise the Chatham Hall community. Afterward, parents went through a special day of classes designed to give the visitor a sense of the semester thus far, while the junior class attended the Best College Fit workshop, led by former college Dean of Admissions and industry analyst, Peter Van Buskirk. In the afternoon, senior athletes were recognized during a special recognition ceremony, and the fall teams faced off against their counterparts from Salem Academy. The night was capped off by a special dinner on the lawn behind Van Voorhis Lecture Hall for families and friends with desserts, great conversation, and a band.

In all, Family Weekend provided an excellent opportunity for friends and family to get a taste of the students' daily lives, and to enjoy the warmth and welcome of the Chatham Hall community.
