Color and Community at Holi Festival Celebration

Chatham Hall
This past weekend, students and faculty participated in a Holi Festival with a color run and front porch night.
Students and faculty alike enjoyed the festive 5k race through campus, with volunteers stationed every half-mile armed with neon-colored powder to cover the runners as they completed the course.

This year’s run was organized as a fundraiser for the Girl Up club on campus, with proceeds going to the larger international club initiatives in India. Race organizers Sridha Chadalavada ‘20 and Alexandra Casker ‘19 were pleased with Saturday’s turnout saying, “It was such an exciting event to plan! We’re glad that so many people showed up and had fun doing henna, playing lawn games, listening to music, and eating food! We really tried to incorporate cultural activities and the spirit of Holi into this event, and are thankful that the money will go towards Girl Up. Also, it was just amazing to have such a traditional festival be done in collaboration with the color run! ”

A school-wide cookout was held on the lawn in front of Pruden after the race,  complete with music, bar-b-que, and lawn games. The night ended with an outdoor showing of the Bollywood modern classic Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
