Two Chatham Hall students have been honored by the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation. Catherine Malone '22 has been named a Commended Student in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program while Ellie Larsen '22 has been named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist.
“National Merit honors are determined by student scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test,” noted Dean of College Counseling Dr. Erin McHugh. “To have two of our Turtles recognized among the highest scores in the nations is wonderful, hopefully it will broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their academic journeys.”
About 34,000 Commended Students and 16,000 Semifinalists are being recognized this year. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
National Merit Scholarship winners of 2022 will be announced in four waves beginning in April and concluding in July. These scholarship recipients will join more than 362,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
