IEA Team Continues Fall Winning Streak

Over the past two weekends, the Chatham Hall IEA team traveled to two horse shows for team competition.
On Saturday, October 5, the team traveled to Pleasant Hill Farm in Hillsborough, NC. The day started off strong with Zoe Holliday ’21 winning in Open Fences, Annabele Whitehead ’22 also took the win in Intermediate Flat, while Sarah Matejko ’21 was second, and Jolie Crisson ’21 was third. Crisson also snagged a second in Intermediate Fences. Two new members of the team showed in the walk trot canter, where Carolyn Whatley ’23 came in third and Sam Richey ’22 took home the win. The team finished out the day as Reserve Champions. 

On October 13, the team competed at Stonehouse Stables in Toano VA. The riders put in strong competitive rides throughout the day, impressing coaches with their poise and presence. To start the day, Mikayla Horvath ’21 took home the win in Open Flat, while Willa Schweitzer ’23 grabbed third. Schweitzer also grabbed fourth in Open Fences and Kensington Nelson ’22 was fourth in Intermediate Flat. In Novice Flat, Zoey Horn ’22 had a strong showing, finishing second, Piper Vogel ’22 was third, and Ellie Johnson ’20 fifth. Johnson also grabbed fifth in Novice Fences. The Walk Trot Canter riders had some beautiful rides to finish up the day, where Julia Brown ’21 took first, Sam Richey ’22 was second, and Livvy Craven ’22 third. Next on the calendar, the riding program will host an SWVHJA show on October 20 at Chatham Hall.
