Learn a language and culture from the inside out. Spend the summer living and learning with a host family in our Spanish and French immersion programs.

Spanish Immersion

Students participating in the Chatham Hall Study Abroad Program in Spain will travel with Señora Jackson to Spain for three weeks.

They will spend a week traveling to different cities in the country, and then will spend two weeks studying in the beautiful city of Seville in Andalusia.

This is a total immersion experience. For two weeks students will live with a family and take classes with other students from around the world at the Centro de Lenguas e Intercambio Cultural (CLIC).

They will study with native professors from Spain at CLIC in the morning and take Flamenco dance classes in the afternoon.

French Immersion

Chatham Hall’s study abroad program in France offers students the ability to become immersed in the French language and culture by living with a French family, attending a French-language school, and sightseeing with the Chatham Hall group.

The success of our 15-year-old program is evident in the increased performance of our students when they return to class and in the excitement they show in describing their wonderful memories.

Chatham Hall girls will attend classes and enjoy the natural beauty of Amboise, France as they canoe and kayak on the Loire River, swim, and bike in this beautiful region. There will also be opportunities for travel to Paris, Mont St. Michel, Chartres, Arles, and other destinations of interests.
A girls' boarding and day school in southern Virginia, Chatham Hall prepares girls for college and for productive lives. Our innovative academic program offers advanced courses, global study and travel, as well as project-based learning. We foster the intellect and character of each student and, through our Honor Code, live in a community of trust. Grounded in its Episcopal heritage, the school welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds.
