You might meet up for movie night or a themed event hosted at a faculty home. Maybe you’ll tie-dye some clothes or grill out with friends or whip up a gourmet meal in the student kitchen (perhaps with a little help from a faculty member). Depending on the season, we have many different activities such as carving pumpkins, building gingerbread houses, and hunting for Easter eggs!
Off campus, there’s even more to do. The School regularly offers recreational trips such as skiing at Wintergreen Resort, swimming and boating at Smith Mountain Lake, taking in the cuisine of a great restaurant in Greensboro, and bowling or laser tag in Lynchburg. Perhaps shopping, the movies, or dinner out in Danville, Lynchburg, or Durham are more your speed? Trips to museums, concerts, plays, musicals, and festivals in any number of nearby cities are also popular options. Excursions to places like Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Asheville, NC, are great opportunities to tap into the tremendous history and culture of the region.
Want to meet students from other schools? Board a charter bus to a mixer or dance, or to a gathering at an amusement park, outdoor event or community service opportunity. Above all, you get to choose the boarding school activities that are right for you, and the options are plentiful.
